Classification and use of round steel

Round steel is a widely used metal material, mainly made of carbon structural steel. It usually has a circular cross-section, and can be made into materials of different shapes, such as cylinders, square columns, hexagonal columns, etc., through different processing methods during processing.

According to the production process classification: divided into three types: hot rolling, forging and cold drawing;
Hot-rolled round steel: the metal billet is passed through the gap (various shapes) of a pair of rotating rollers, and the material cross-section is reduced and the length is increased due to the compression and rolling of the rollers. This is the most commonly used production method for steel production, mainly used to produce profiles, plates, and pipes. There are two types: hot rolling and cold rolling. The specifications of hot-rolled round steel are 5.5-250 mm. Among them: 5.5-25 mm small round steel is mostly supplied in bundles of straight bars, which are often used as steel bars, bolts and various mechanical parts in construction projects; round steel larger than 25 mm is mainly used to manufacture mechanical parts or seamless steel pipe raw materials.
Forged round steel: refers to round steel that can be formed by forging. Generally speaking, the quality of round steel produced by free forging and rolling is better than that of round steel produced by free forging and rolling under the same deformation ratio, because forging needs to be repeatedly forged to achieve the same deformation as rolling (forging is free deformation and rolling is constrained deformation), so the same billet produces the same finished round steel, which is equivalent to a deformation ratio of more than 50% higher than that of rolling. In addition, generally speaking, forging is the overall deformation of steel parts from the surface to the inside, while rolling deforms the surface first, so the internal structure, segregation degree, metal flow lines, etc. of the round steel produced by the two are completely different, and the quality of forged round steel is generally better than that of rolled round steel. Therefore, key parts such as crane hooks must be forged.
Cold-drawn round steel: also known as cold-drawn round steel, cold-drawn original steel, cold-drawn round steel, and light round, is a type of cold-drawn steel. Whether it is cold-drawn round steel or round steel, its shape is round, but the surface of cold-drawn round steel is very smooth, the dimensional accuracy is very high, and its mechanical properties are high. Due to its high dimensional accuracy, it can be used directly without processing.

Round steel has many uses in the industrial field. Here are some common uses:
1. Structural support: Round steel is often used as structural support material in buildings, mechanical equipment, bridges and other projects. It can withstand large loads and play a role in reinforcement and stability.
2. Bearing materials: Round steel can be made into various bearings, such as rolling bearings, sliding bearings, etc. through precision processing, which are used for the operation of mechanical equipment.
3. Parts manufacturing: Round steel can be used to manufacture various machine tool parts, automobile parts, aerospace parts, etc., and is widely used.
4. Reinforced concrete reinforcement: Round steel can be used to reinforce concrete structures, such as beams, columns, bridges, etc., to improve the durability and bearing capacity of concrete.
5. Heat treatment tools: Round steel can be used to make various heat treatment tools, such as punches, molds, knives, etc., which are used in metal processing, plastic processing and other processes.
6. Welding materials: Round steel can be used to make welding materials, such as welding wires, welding rods, etc., for welding and joining of various metals.
7. Manufacturing shaft parts: Round steel can be directly made into shafts, bearings and other parts for connecting and supporting other parts.
8. Spring material: After tempering and quenching, round steel can be used to make various springs, such as tension springs, compression springs, etc., with good resilience and durability.
In general, round steel is widely used in the industrial field and can be applied to various fields such as machinery manufacturing, construction engineering, metal processing, etc. It is an important metal material.
